Carbonic Systems Incorporated began in 1935 when Clarence Williams founded Pipe Welding Supply in a small 400-square-foot location on William Street in Elmira, New York. In the 1950s, Clarence's son-in-law, Charles E. Loew, took over and led the company through significant expansion. In 1988, Clarence's grandson, Charles "Chuck" W. Loew, sold the welding supply operations to focus solely on carbon dioxide (CO₂) sales and services, officially renaming the company Carbonic Systems Incorporated in 1992. After Chuck's retirement, his sister, Kathryn "Kathy" E. Casey, took the helm, and along with her husband, Scott Casey, they guided the company through over three decades of impressive growth. Following Scott's retirement in 2023 and Kathy's passing in 2024, Chuck returned as Chairman, and Tim Krusen became President and CEO, steering Carbonic Systems Incorporated into its next chapter. Today, Cassandra Miller and James Czech, two of Kathy’s children, represent the fourth generation of family ownership at Carbonic Systems Incorporated. The business remains committed to delivering outstanding service and value to a growing customer base across the Northeast.
